Change The World: My Philosophy
“Do your little bit of good where you are; it’s those little bits of good put together that overwhelm the world” – Desmond Tutu
Having worked with charities and community groups for over 16 years, I'm a huge advocate for the third sector; the value it adds to the economy and the great work it does on the frontline.
More than that, I’m a huge believer in the power of an individual or a small community, and that it’s those tiny actions and small acts of kindness made in every corner of the world that add up to real and significant change.
I believe we all have the ability to turn our unique set of experiences and skills into something that could make a positive difference in the world.
I wanted somewhere to bring together my experience working in the third sector as an employee, my many years as a consultant and adviser, the lessons I’ve learnt through running my own social enterprise, and my creative approach to embracing change.
My aim is to provide all the resources and inspiration you need to make a positive difference in your community, whether as an individual or a group.
I share two articles with videos each month - practical information on starting, running & funding a community group or not-for-profit, plus creative tools for inspiration.
You can always comment on these posts or reply to me directly. I love to hear what inspires you, what you’re working on, and I’d like this to become a supportive community where we can encourage the important role each and every one of us has in the world.
I currently have six workbooks available in paperback on Amazon. Paid subscribers to this newsletter get instant access to the PDF versions too.
Here is a little more about my approach, so you can decide whether we’re a good fit.
The memories and experiences we gather throughout our lives shape how we evolve, who we become, and what we want. It’s often the challenging times that make us stronger, and our moments of achievement that show us exactly what we’re made of.
Often, when someone goes through a life-changing experience, for example a breakdown, bereavement, prison sentence, addiction, or illness, they feel a sense of duty to help other people in the same situation; they feel called to take action.
These people become advocates, volunteers & activists – in short, they change the world.
It’s likely that your own unique set of experiences inform the changes you want to see in the world.
This is for you if you:
are ready to turn what matters to you into real impact.
want to turn your pain/struggle/survival/recovery into positive action.
have a deep and compelling need to shine a light on an issue you feel strongly about.
My writing and the resources I share focus on five key areas:
Step 1: Exploring Your Story
Using creative tools to explore & tell your story.
Step 2: Paying It Forward
Turning your personal experiences into an idea to help others.
Step 3: Building Your Community
Creating a platform for your cause & bringing people together.
Step 4: Funding Your Idea
Generating funding to start & run your project or group.
Step 5: Making an Impact
Planning for the longer term & creating a social impact.
Outside of here you can find me on YouTube and Instagram.
Wherever you are on your own journey, I hope you find something here that inspires you.
